Georgia Trend magazine has included Angie Cox, President and CEO of the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, in its annual Georgia 500 list. The publication recognizes influential leaders across business, government, education, and civic sectors throughout the state.

Cox has led the Augusta Metro Chamber since 2024. During her tenure, she has guided the organization through several natural disasters and continued to advance initiatives aimed at strengthening Augusta’s business environment. The chamber represents over 1,200 member businesses and serves as a primary advocate for economic development and workforce growth in the region.

Key programs under Cox’s leadership include FastTrack Boot Camp—a partnership with Augusta Technical College and First Step Staffing—which provides adult learners of color with industry credentials and job opportunities. The Students2Work program places local high school juniors and seniors in paid internships with area employers to encourage retention of young talent. Other ongoing efforts like the Small Business Marketing Academy and Level-Up Business Academy are designed to help entrepreneurs expand their businesses.

Cox is a Georgia Certified Chamber Executive (GCCE). She joins other prominent Augusta-area figures on this year’s Georgia 500 list. Many honorees are current or former members of the chamber board or represent companies actively involved with the chamber.

“Notably, many of these honorees are current or past Chamber Board members, or represent companies actively engaged with the Chamber — a strong reflection of the leadership within our business community,” according to the announcement.

Other recognized leaders from Augusta include Shell Berry (Community Foundation for the CSRA), Dave Brendza (ADP), Bennish Brown (Destination Augusta), Tom Clark (CSRA Alliance for Fort Eisenhower), Jorge Cortes (Georgia Cancer Center), MG Ryan Janovic (Fort Gordon), Russell Keen (Augusta University), Will McKnight (McKnight Construction), Fred Ridley (Augusta National Golf Club), Rob Scholl (Textron), Allan Soto (Vinea Capital), Eric Toler (Georgia Cyber Center), Ralph Turner (Wellstar MCG Health), Margaret Woodard (Downtown Development Authority) and Cal Wray (Augusta Economic Development Authority).
