The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Midwest Territory and District 77 held the 25th Annual Guide Dogs of America (GDA) Charity Golf Tournament, known as the John Massetti Memorial, in Minnesota this past Sunday. The event brought together fifty-six golfers and raised over $15,000 for Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines.
Raffle prizes totaling more than $5,000 were awarded during the day, supported by contributions from sponsors and supporters. The tournament was originally founded by John Massetti, a member of Local 1833, who wanted to expand GDA fundraising efforts beyond motorcycle runs by organizing a golf event. Although Massetti passed away twenty years ago, IAM District 77 and Local 1833 have continued his work through this annual fundraiser.
“I want to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to come out and support Guide Dogs of America,” said IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli. “It’s because of the dedication and hard work of our members, our retirees, and our volunteers that this event continues to be such a success.”
“This tournament is more than just a day on the golf course,” said IAM District 77 Directing Business Representative Andrew Peltier. “It’s a powerful way to honor John Massetti’s legacy and make a real difference in the lives of those who rely on Guide Dogs of America. The commitment and generosity of everyone involved is truly inspiring.”
For 25 years, IAM members have gathered annually at this event to raise funds supporting guide dogs and service dogs for people in need.
