Augusta University has been recognized as one of the top colleges in the United States by two ranking organizations, with improvements noted in both national and state-level assessments.

For the second consecutive year, Augusta University advanced in the U.S. News and World Report rankings, moving up 23 places from last year. This represents a total increase of 59 spots since the 2024 rankings.

“These rankings not only reflect the strength of Augusta University’s academic programs, but also the commitment our outstanding faculty and staff have made to ensure our students have access to innovative learning experiences that prepare them for success in the workforce,” said Augusta University President Russell T. Keen. “Every day, our work leads to life-changing, life-saving discoveries. The impact our students, faculty and staff make is felt not only here in Georgia but around the world.”

The university was also recognized by Niche, a college ranking and review site, which placed Augusta University in the top 8% for best value colleges nationwide. Other national rankings from Niche include placement in the top 10% for colleges with the best professors, top 21% for best colleges overall in America, top 22% among public universities, and top 25% for best academics.

Several academic programs at Augusta University received specific recognition from Niche as well: information technology was ranked within the top 12%, biology within the top 14%, and chemistry within the top 21% nationally.

“When I arrived at Augusta University, I was impressed by the university’s focus on student success and its commitment to continuous improvement,” said Maggy G. Tomova, PhD, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost. “I’m inspired by AU’s strategic direction and aim to contribute to building on the existing achievements. Our faculty and academic leaders are dedicated to serving the needs of students, the local community, the state, and beyond. It’s gratifying to see this hard work recognized nationally. I’m proud to be part of the AU community.”

Within Georgia specifically, Niche ranked Augusta University second for best college value and third among public universities. The university placed fourth statewide for biology programs and fifth for professors. Additional state-level rankings include sixth place overall among colleges in Georgia; seventh place for nursing and computer science; ninth place for psychology programs and overall academics; and tenth place for history programs.

Augusta University also performed well on social media engagement according to Quid’s Higher Education Social Media Engagement Report for 2025. Among Division II institutions surveyed between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025—which included analysis across Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), and TikTok—Augusta University ranked within the top 16%. The institution improved its position by moving up 156 spots to reach number 47 overall among Division II schools nationally. In addition, it ranked eighteenth specifically in TikTok engagements.
