Campus leadership at Augusta University is closely monitoring weather conditions for the upcoming weekend, with forecasts predicting extremely cold temperatures and the possibility of snow in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). The university has stated that ensuring the safety of its community is a top priority.

University officials are continuing to assess the situation and will provide daily updates regarding campus operations to students, faculty, and staff. Those located at regional clinical campuses have been advised to follow guidance from their respective deans.

According to current forecasts, Friday will see cooling temperatures dropping below freezing overnight. On Saturday and Sunday, there is a strong potential for snow along with increasing winds. As temperatures continue to fall, mixed precipitation could occur, potentially making roads and sidewalks slippery.

For now, classes and operations for both students and faculty are scheduled to proceed as usual over the weekend. Students needing assistance during this period are encouraged to contact the Office of the Dean of Students directly. Faculty and staff have been advised to prepare for possible remote work if weather conditions worsen; any such changes will be communicated through official university channels.

Clinicians and specialists affiliated with Wellstar MCG, MCG, and DCG should follow instructions provided by their supervisors.

The university recommends staying connected through its official communication platforms for any operational updates. These include Augusta University’s homepage, Alerts page, MyAugusta announcements, as well as AU’s Instagram and Facebook pages. Community members are urged to sign up for JagAlert—an automated alert system—and RAVE Guardian for direct connection with campus police in both emergency and non-emergency situations.

Additionally, downloading the MyAugusta app will allow users to receive push notifications on their devices. Updates regarding shuttle services will be available on the PassioGo website and app.

Guidance is also available on how to stay safe during cold weather events such as power outages or home heating fires, as well as tips for working outdoors or traveling by car during these conditions.
