Augusta University has been recognized by Forbes as one of Georgia’s top 100 employers for the seventh consecutive year. The university was ranked 33rd in the state on Forbes’ “America’s Best-In-State Employers” list and was the highest-ranked institution from the University System of Georgia. Other universities in the system that made the list include the University of Georgia, Georgia Technical Institute, Georgia Southern University, and Kennesaw State University. Emory University and Wellstar Health System were also among those recognized.

“This recognition reflects the culture we are building together, one that values every interaction with our students, faculty, staff and visitors,” said AU President Russell T. Keen. “We are committed to creating an environment where employees feel supported and empowered to thrive, while also ensuring our students have access to innovative learning experiences that prepare them for success in the workforce. With our continued growth, outstanding faculty and staff and strong academic programs, the future of Augusta University has never been brighter.”

Forbes partnered with Statista to conduct a survey involving more than 160,000 U.S. employees at companies with over 500 workers. Participants rated their employers based on factors such as likelihood of recommendation and workplace quality, including wage parity and how serious issues are handled. Both current and former employees as well as industry insiders contributed feedback for this evaluation process.

Augusta University is noted as Georgia’s leading public health sciences and medical research university. It houses the Medical College of Georgia—the state’s flagship medical school—the Dental College of Georgia (the only dental school in Georgia), and the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center. As of August 2025, AU employs more than 6,200 people: nearly 4,300 staff members and over 2,000 faculty.

In fall 2024, Augusta University saw a student enrollment increase of 9.8% from the previous year with a total enrollment of 11,584 students. Current figures for fall 2025 show enrollment surpassing 12,000 students—a record high—continuing a decade-long trend of enrollment growth.

The university’s economic influence extends across Georgia; during fiscal year 2024 it contributed $1.62 billion to the state economy—a rise of 4.6% compared to last year—and generated over 11,500 jobs according to data from the University System of Georgia’s annual report on institutional economic impact.
