Isaac Brinberg, an assistant professor of music at Augusta University’s Katherine Reese Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, has been named to Georgia Trend’s 2025 40 Under 40 list. The annual recognition highlights young professionals across Georgia who are making significant contributions in their fields while also supporting their communities.
Brinberg was previously recognized by Augusta Magazine as one of the “10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch” earlier this year. He credits his achievements to support from his family, colleagues at Augusta University, local music educators, and service organizations. “None of this would have been possible without immense support from my family, my amazing wife, Jennifer, leadership and colleagues at Augusta University, the many music educators in our community and participating in several service organizations,” Brinberg said. He described the honor as “an incredible honor” and added: “Being part of two cohorts of people who work tirelessly making a positive impact on their communities deeply inspires me in my role at Augusta University and with service groups throughout the CSRA.”
Since joining Augusta University in 2023 as assistant professor and director of the Wind Ensemble, Brinberg has become active within both the campus and local community. He serves as co-membership chair for Young Professionals of Augusta, membership chair for Rotary Club of Columbia County, and is involved with Webb Lodge No. 166 and the Scottish Rite.
Brinberg has led initiatives such as launching the Augusta University Concert Band Festival and assisting with bringing the Georgia Music Educators Association District 10 Honor Band event to campus. Angela Morgan, chair of the Department of Music, and Kim Davies, dean of Pamplin College, have supported these efforts.
Kim Davies praised Brinberg’s early impact: “Isaac Brinberg is a relatively new professor at Augusta University, but he is already making a big impact. His commitment to student success and his extensive community involvement demonstrate a genuine passion, not just to his discipline but to our community.”
In addition to academic responsibilities, Brinberg organizes musical entertainment for university events like Veterans Day celebrations and commencement ceremonies.
His nomination for Georgia Trend’s list was prepared by the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce team. Reflecting on attending the recognition event in Atlanta with family members—where Kwame Johnson spoke—Brinberg said: “Attending the recognition event in Atlanta with Jen and my mom was a true highlight of the fall semester. The guest speaker…shared his profound life story and hearing each recipient’s accomplishments and work fostered strong hope and optimism for our future.”
Looking ahead at his career goals at AU’s Department of Music Brinberg stated: “My long-term dream is to continue growing the Augusta University Department of Music into a powerhouse program through relentless pursuit of artistry…I want to develop workshops and other opportunities for our in-service music educators to further their professional development at an affordable price with convenience…and strength of resources.”
