Augusta University has announced it will serve as the host site and sponsor for the Augusta Half Marathon/10K/5K for the next three years, beginning with the 2026 event scheduled for Saturday, February 28. The races are organized by the Augusta Sports Council.
All race courses will start and finish on Walker Street at Augusta University’s Summerville Campus, near the Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre. Participants will run through the Summerville neighborhood before returning to campus via Taylor Street.
Michelle Pippin, CEO of the Augusta Sports Council and an alumna of Augusta University, stated, “We are grateful for the continued community partnership with Augusta University. Our staff and Board of Directors look forward to welcoming the runners and spectators at the Summerville Campus for our annual signature event.”
The upcoming event features Georgia Carolina Orthopedics as its new title sponsor. The half marathon will begin at 7:15 a.m., while both the 10K and 5K races will start at 7:45 a.m. There is also a virtual participation option available for all three events. Additionally, a Medals for Miles youth fun run is planned for children in kindergarten through third grade.
Proceeds from this annual event support the mission of the Augusta Sports Council and fund the G.A.M.E.S. Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to selected graduating high school student-athletes each year. The courses are certified by USA Track and Field and serve as qualifiers for entry into other major races such as the AJC Peachtree Road Race.
The Augusta Half Marathon/10K/5K remains part of the CSRA Hat Trick Challenge, alongside other regional events including Aiken’s Triple Crown Road Race on March 7 and North Augusta’s Palmetto Peach Half Marathon/10K/5K on November 28.
