The U.S. Census Bureau will conduct a prerelease webinar to discuss the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates ahead of their public release on September 11, 2025. The session aims to guide participants on accessing ACS data and resources, as well as methods for comparing statistics across different regions and time periods.
The ACS offers detailed information about various aspects of the nation’s population and housing. Topics include language spoken at home, education levels, commuting habits, employment status, mortgage or rent details, income levels, poverty rates, and health insurance coverage. For many of these subjects, the ACS is the only source providing local-level estimates.
Subscribers with embargo access can review the one-year estimates beginning September 9 at 10 a.m. ET. These statistics cover all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional districts, metropolitan statistical areas, and other geographic regions with populations exceeding 65,000 people. Embargoed materials remain accessible until September 11 at 12:01 a.m. ET. Distribution services are prohibited from releasing news stories or data files before this embargo lifts; further details are available in the Census Bureau’s embargo policy.
Public access to all datasets will begin by 10 a.m. ET on September 11. Those interested in embargo registration can visit www.census.gov/newsroom/releases/archives/embargoed_releases.
The prerelease webinar is scheduled for Thursday, September 4 at 1 p.m. ET and will feature Caleb Hopler from the American Community Survey Office and Jewel Jordan from the Public Information Office.
