The U.S. Census Bureau has announced new collaborations with Brigham Young University-Idaho and the University of North Carolina System to expand its Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) experimental data product. The PSEO provides information about the earnings and employment results of college and university graduates, broken down by degree level, major, institution, and state.
With these new partnerships, data from 17 additional post-secondary institutions will be included in the PSEO. This expansion brings total coverage to 952 institutions, which represents about 35% of all college graduates nationwide.
According to the Census Bureau, “The PSEO provides earnings and employment outcomes for college and university graduates by degree level, degree major, post-secondary institution, and state of institution, and is used by parents, students, institutions, and workforce agencies to learn about the labor force outcomes of graduates.”
The program relies on data-sharing agreements between universities or university systems, state education departments, state labor market offices, and the Census Bureau itself. Users can access this information through several channels including the PSEO Explorer tool as well as raw files and the Census API.
