The U.S. Census Bureau has announced it will release national statistics on income, poverty, and health insurance coverage for 2024 at an online news conference scheduled for September 9 at 10 a.m. EDT.

The upcoming reports—Income in the United States: 2024, Poverty in the United States: 2024, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2024—are based on data from the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC). These reports provide annual estimates of income, earnings, inequality, official and supplemental poverty measures, as well as national-level health insurance coverage.

According to the Census Bureau, these statistics are used to evaluate economic trends and their effects on households, families, and individuals across the country. The reports aim to offer insights into economic well-being by examining income distribution, poverty rates using both official and supplemental measures, and health insurance status by selected characteristics.

A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. David Waddington, chief of the Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division; Sharon Stern, assistant division chief for Employment Characteristics; Liana Fox, assistant division chief for Economic Characteristics; and Julie Iriondo, chief of Media Relations Branch at the Public Information Office will participate in the event.

“Individuals representing media outlets will be able to ask questions by phone,” according to information provided by the Census Bureau.

The news conference will take place online via Webex by Cisco. Reports and related materials will be made available through the Income, Poverty and Health Insurance press kit shortly after the event begins.
