DC Comics has announced a partnership with Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC), the charitable organization supported by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM Union). The collaboration aims to highlight the work of service dogs trained to assist people who are blind or visually impaired, veterans living with PTSD or traumatic brain injuries, children with autism, and public institutions.

Building on last year’s joint initiative at San Diego Comic-Con, this yearlong effort features a DC-sponsored litter of guide and service dogs. In a unique move, GDA | TLC allowed these puppies to be named after well-known DC characters: Krypto, Clark, Lois, Kara, and Lobo. Each puppy’s name reflects qualities associated with their comic book counterparts.

The puppies will begin training after completing their initial development phase. They will live with volunteer puppy raisers as they learn skills needed to support individuals seeking greater independence and companionship.

Supporters can follow updates about the puppies’ progress through events and social media campaigns throughout the year. There will also be opportunities for fans to meet the dogs at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

“Say hello to the newest four-legged Super Heroes:

Krypto – Inspired by Superman’s loyal Superdog, where good dogs and great heroes meet

Clark – Mild-mannered, kind-hearted, and guided by strong morals

Lois – Smart, fearless, and always determined

Kara – Powerful, courageous, and learning to harness incredible abilities

Lobo – Bold, fearless, and unforgettable”

After graduating from puppy pre-kindergarten, these future heroes will continue their journey with dedicated volunteer puppy raisers, developing the skills they’ll one day use to bring independence, confidence, and companionship to those who need it most.”

Throughout the year DC fans and supporters of GDA|TLC can follow the pups’ training through special events, storytelling activations, and social media moments celebrating community, impact, and heroism. Fans will even have the chance to meet the puppies in person at San Diego Comic-Con this July.”
