Cherry, make way for lime.

Diet Coke is introducing another limited-time flavor, bringing back Retro Diet Coke Lime to shelves across the United States this week. The beverage, which combines the classic zero-sugar taste of Diet Coke with a citrus twist, was first available from 2004 to 2018 and is returning due to consumer demand.

The new release follows the recent limited run of Retro Diet Cherry Coke at Kroger stores. Retro Diet Coke Lime will be sold in nostalgic packaging inspired by its original design, available in 12 packs of 12-ounce cans and single 20-ounce PET bottles at grocery stores, convenience stores, mass retailers, and select online outlets.

“We spend a lot of time listening to what our consumers are saying online,” said Ryan Watson, brand director, Diet Coke North America. “People have been signing petitions and DM-ing us asking for flavors from the past, including cherry and lime. We take all of that into account before doing extensive qualitative research and testing to determine our next offerings.”

The packaging design draws inspiration from vintage Diet Coke Cherry cans and features neon lime graphics alongside classic branding elements to appeal both to longtime fans and younger shoppers interested in novelty products.
