IAM District 19 President and Directing General Chairman Reece Murtagh, along with TCU/IAM Vice-President Nick Peluso, visited Capitol Hill to advocate for the passage of the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act (H.R. 5475). The bill was introduced by Representatives Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.) and Emilia Sykes (D-Ohio).

During their visit, Murtagh and Peluso met with IAM and TCU legislative staff to thank the lawmakers leading the bill and to discuss strategies for advancing the legislation before the next tax season. The proposed act seeks to broaden the current overtime tax exemption so that airline, rail, and other workers exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) would receive the same overtime tax relief as many other American workers.

The IAM and TCU have urged Congress to ensure railroad and airline workers are included in overtime tax deductions, highlighting that these employees are not currently eligible for certain tax benefits provided to others.
