The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) has announced its participation in the upcoming Young Workers March on Washington, scheduled for Saturday, February 7 in Washington, D.C. The union is encouraging its members and supporters to join the event to advocate for improved opportunities for young workers.

According to the IAM, the march aims to address several challenges currently facing younger generations in the workforce. These include affordability issues, housing shortages, healthcare access problems, childcare difficulties, and rising student debt. The union states that these overlapping crises threaten both job prospects and community stability.

On February 7, labor unions and worker advocacy groups from across the country will gather to call for policies that benefit working people and ensure economic security for future generations. “On this day, the IAM will join labor unions and worker advocacy organizations from across the country to demand an America that works for workers and to ensure young workers have the same opportunities their parents had,” according to an official statement from the organization.

The schedule for the day includes a march beginning at 11 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill (400 New Jersey Ave., NW), followed by a rally at noon at the U.S. Capitol Building.

“These challenges threaten the future of work and the stability of our communities. That’s why young workers and unions are coming together to demand action, fairness, and real solutions,” stated IAM representatives.

Individuals seeking more information about participating can contact Dee Colbert, IAM Women’s and Young Workers Director, via email at dcolbert@iamaw.org.
