IAM District 19 has announced a tentative agreement with Union Pacific Railroad, covering about 1,300 freight rail workers. The deal is set to address key concerns related to pay, vacation, and healthcare.
“Our membership asked us to stand strong for a contract that includes no takeaways and makes improvements to pay, vacation and healthcare – and that’s exactly what we’ve delivered,” said IAM District 19 President and Directing General Chair Reece Murtagh. “We strongly recommend acceptance of this agreement.”
Josh Hartford, IAM Special Assistant to the International President for the IAM Rail Division, stated, “District 19 continues to stand strong for industry-leading contracts. Together, we are remaking this industry and giving every rail worker the respect they’ve earned.”
The union will provide more details on the proposed contract soon. Members are scheduled to vote electronically on the agreement between August 25 and August 29, 2025.
