More than 3,200 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 837 at Boeing’s St. Louis facilities are scheduled to vote on a revised contract offer from the company on Sunday, August 3, starting at 10 a.m. Central Time. If the union members reject the modified proposal, a strike is set to begin at midnight on Monday, August 4.
The updated contract proposal from Boeing includes several changes compared to its previous offer. The company has withdrawn its Alternative Workweek Schedule (AWS) proposal, meaning that current overtime policies will remain in place. The new offer also introduces an annual $0.50 per hour pay additive for employees who have reached the maximum pay rate.
For retirement benefits, the modified proposal increases the pension multiplier by $10 in Year 1 for pension-eligible members, rather than splitting it into two $5 increments over Years 2 and 3 as previously suggested. To receive this increase, employees must retire after January 1, 2026.
Other elements of Boeing’s proposed agreement remain unchanged from earlier versions. These include a proposed 20% wage increase over the life of the contract, a $5,000 ratification bonus, vacation and sick leave provisions, and healthcare coverage.
This upcoming vote comes after IAM District 837 members overwhelmingly rejected Boeing’s earlier contract proposal on July 27.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers represents about 600,000 active and retired workers across various industries in North America including aerospace and defense.
