The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Executive Council announced on April 9 that it is encouraging all Districts and Locals to send interested members to the 2026 Pride at Work Convention, which will take place June 2-4, 2026, in Minneapolis.

The union says this effort is part of its ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion within the labor movement. The Pride at Work Convention is organized by an AFL-CIO constituency group focused on advancing equality for LGBTQIA+ workers across workplaces, unions, and communities.

In a message addressed to IAM members, the council said: “Pride at Work’s mission reflects what we stand for as a union: building a labor movement that cherishes diversity, promotes inclusion and ensures safety and dignity for all. Guided by the principle that ‘an injury to one is an injury to all,’ we must continue to oppose discrimination in all its forms and strengthen solidarity across our diverse membership.”

The announcement highlights that IAM’s support for the convention aligns with its own initiatives, such as growing Human Rights Committees throughout its organization. The council said these efforts are aimed at ensuring every member feels welcomed, respected, and included within the union.

Credentialing for the event begins June 1 at the Marquette Hotel in Minneapolis. Members are encouraged to reserve hotel rooms by May 1 due to limited availability. Early registration discounts are available until April 19.

“When we show up, engage, and stand together, we build a stronger, more inclusive IAM Union and a more powerful labor movement for all working people,” according to the statement from IAM leadership.
