IAM Union General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes and Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen visited the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center (W3) to meet with members participating in organizing and leadership classes.
During their visit, Cervantes and Johnsen attended Organizing I classes offered in both Spanish and English, as well as the Young Workers Leadership Program. These programs drew students from various parts of North America who aimed to improve their skills and support the growth of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).
Cervantes emphasized the importance of providing organizing education in Spanish so that all members have access to resources needed for leadership roles. She stated that her presence underscored IAM’s dedication to inclusion, education, and member empowerment throughout the union.
Johnsen spoke with organizers and young workers, acknowledging their commitment during a period close to the holidays. According to participants in the Young Workers program, the leaders’ visit strengthened their sense of belonging within the labor movement and confirmed that they are valued contributors.
