IAM Local 912 members in Cincinnati have ratified a new five-year contract with General Electric Aerospace. The agreement affects nearly 600 workers and includes several changes to compensation and benefits.
The new contract maintains and improves the defined benefit pension plan, while also enhancing the retirement savings plan. Members will see annual wage increases of 5% in each of the first two years, followed by increases of 3%, 3%, and 3.5% over the remaining three years. The deal also offers more vacation time, better sick leave provisions, increased personal protective equipment allowances, improved disability benefits, enhanced vision coverage, and retiree benefits.
Job security was a key point in negotiations. The union bargaining committee secured GE’s commitment to increase staffing levels within the bargaining unit.
Craig Norman, IAM Collective Bargaining Director and lead negotiator, said: “The success of these negotiations was due partly to our strong commitment to GE Aerospace and our dedication to our historical relationship. This agreement provides stability for the membership and the company, which is needed to move the GE facility forward. Our members and bargaining committee stood in proper united form — ensuring they could bring worthy acceptance to the membership.”
David Sullivan, IAM Eastern Territory General Vice President, stated: “Local 912 has such a strong and dedicated history with GE. The negotiating committee secured a firm contract because our committee and membership stood together. I am proud of the work and commitment of our membership.”
