Fifteen members, staff, and activists from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) participated in an advanced Organizing III training program at the Winpisinger Center, according to a March 31 announcement.
The purpose of the training was to strengthen communication skills so that representatives can better teach organizing strategies within their local unions. This initiative is seen as important for ensuring the long-term growth and strength of the labor movement.
Participants came from a range of industries such as air transport, aerospace, and automotive. Over the course of a week, they worked together to master various teaching techniques and adapt to different learning styles. The session aimed to prepare them to lead their own organizing committees in future efforts.
A video report on the event was also made available for those interested in learning more about what took place during the training.
The completion of this program reflects ongoing efforts by IAM to build leadership capacity among its members and support union organizing across multiple sectors.
