Delegates from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Wisconsin State Council gathered in Madison for a three-day meeting, according to an April 7 announcement. The event brought together union members from across Wisconsin to address regulatory and political challenges facing collective bargaining.
The meeting focused on the importance of solidarity among workers and proactive efforts to strengthen labor rights. Delegates discussed strategies for responding to changes affecting collective bargaining and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting one another within the labor movement.
Governor Tony Evers attended the conference’s opening session, where he delivered remarks alongside local labor leaders. During this session, Evers signed Assembly Bill 651 into law as 2025 Wisconsin Act 145, updating the state’s workers’ compensation system.
On the final day of meetings, IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli spoke about organizing strategies, member education initiatives, and supporting political candidates who represent worker interests. “Division is the most effective weapon against working people,” said Cicinelli. “When we stand together across each of the crafts, across industries, across differences, we are powerful. Unstoppable. History proves it.”
Afterward, delegates met with lawmakers at the Wisconsin State Capitol as part of their lobbying efforts.
