Jon Holden has been appointed as the new General Vice President of Training and Apprenticeships for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, effective April 1. The announcement was made at the recent MNPL Conference in Savannah, Georgia, where it was noted that the IAM Executive Council voted unanimously for his appointment.

The appointment is significant for union members as training and apprenticeship programs are key to maintaining a skilled workforce within the industry. These programs help ensure workers are prepared for current and future job demands.

Holden previously served as president of IAM District 751 in Washington state. In that role, he represented tens of thousands of high-skilled workers, most of whom were involved in building Boeing aircraft at the company’s manufacturing facilities.

The decision to appoint Holden reflects a focus on strengthening training initiatives within the union. As General Vice President, he will be responsible for overseeing these programs across all regions covered by IAM.

With this leadership change taking effect on April 1, union members may expect renewed attention to workforce development through expanded training opportunities.
