Max Levchin, co-founder of PayPal and founder of Affirm, has been elected to the Board of Directors of The Coca‑Cola Company, the company announced Thursday.
Levchin, 50, is known for his work in technology and entrepreneurship. He co-founded Confinity in 1998, which later became PayPal, where he served as chief technology officer until eBay acquired the company in 2002. After PayPal, Levchin started several ventures, including Slide, a media-sharing service that Google acquired in 2010. He also founded the innovation lab HVF, which led to the creation of Affirm in 2012. Affirm, a provider of installment payment solutions, became a public company in 2021.
James Quincey, Chairman and CEO of The Coca‑Cola Company, said, “Max has a tremendous background in technology, including the development and growth of successful companies. He will bring great perspectives to Coca‑Cola as technology continues to reshape the way we do business.”
Levchin’s experience includes board roles at technology companies such as Yelp Inc. and Yahoo! Inc.
Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, Levchin moved to the United States in 1991 and earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
The company also announced its quarterly dividend.
