Two faculty members from Augusta University College of Nursing, Lynn Glenn and Denotra Gaillard, were inducted as Professional Members of the National Academies of Practice at the organization’s 2026 Annual Meeting and Forum in Indianapolis, Indiana.

This recognition is given to professionals who have made significant contributions to nursing and have shown leadership and commitment to advancing healthcare. The induction process requires nomination by an active member, interest in interdisciplinary healthcare issues, and at least five years of professional contributions.

Glenn serves as an assistant professor in the Nursing Science Department. She is noted for her work with the Dental College of Georgia on a grant-funded project titled “An Interprofessional Learning Experience and Approach to Diabetes Risk Screening.” This initiative involves nursing, dental, and dental hygiene students working together on diabetes screening and researching links between oral health and systemic disease. “My membership in NAP will open the door to many exciting opportunities to collaborate with other health professionals and work together to improve healthcare,” Glenn said. She added that her primary goal is “to promote high quality, equitable health care and enhance health outcomes in underserved, diverse communities through research and practice.” Glenn also highlighted her recent collaboration with Emory Diabetes Center for Translational Research on a project called “Diabetes Care in Rural Georgia,” which will be presented at an upcoming American Diabetes Association conference. “Being part of a nationally recognized organization is an honor and fosters growth, inspiration and excellence in my nursing research career,” she said.

Gaillard is an associate professor in the Nursing Practice Department. As a lead clinician with West Central Georgia Cancer Coalition’s mobile health unit, she has worked across 16 rural counties to expand access for underserved women. Her efforts include curriculum development for future nurse practitioners as well as community-based learning models like the Healthy Grandparents Program. “My acceptance to NAP is both a personal honor and a reflection of our college’s reputation for excellence,” Gaillard said. She noted that this distinction enhances visibility for Augusta University’s College of Nursing while strengthening its credibility.

As new Professional Members, both professors plan further involvement within NAP initiatives: Glenn aims for continued professional development including participation in advocacy events such as May’s Virtual Capitol Hill Visit; Gaillard has joined the Annual Forum Planning Committee where she will help address workforce challenges through collaborative programming focused on policy solutions.

Gaillard was recently honored with both state-level awards recognizing her service: she received the AANP State Award for Contributions to Nursing in Georgia as well as being named Distinguished Alumnus during Alumni Weekend this April. Reflecting on these honors she said: “It reflects not only my professional journey but also my lifelong commitment to serving vulnerable populations… This recognition is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of the collective efforts of the communities, students and colleagues I have had the privilege to serve.”
