The U.S. Census Bureau has published new data on state-to-state migration and place of birth for 2024. The statistics, drawn from the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates, provide insights into geographic mobility across the United States.
The State-to-State Migration Flows table offers estimates of how many people moved between each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and from abroad to the United States during 2024. Another table details current residents in these locations by their place of birth.
These updates allow policymakers and researchers to track patterns in domestic and international migration within the country using recent survey data.
