The U.S. Census Bureau released new tables and files on Apr. 15 containing detailed data from its 2025 Annual Survey of State Government Tax Collections, covering taxes imposed and collected by state governments and the District of Columbia.

The release provides information used by Congress, federal agencies, state and local governments, educational institutions, research organizations, and the public to examine tax policy and estimate economic indicators such as gross domestic product and national income.

According to the Census Bureau, the data include five broad tax categories with up to 25 subcategories. These comprehensive figures are intended to support a wide range of analyses related to government finance.

Additional technical documentation is available for those seeking more details about the survey methodology or data structure.
