The U.S. Census Bureau released new data on Mar. 26 from the Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey, known as HTOPS, which covers topics such as food and nutrition, health and well-being, transportation, employment, education, and other subjects.

The release provides information to help understand the socioeconomic conditions facing households in the United States. The survey results are designed to assist federal agencies in assessing current conditions, monitoring trends, and informing policy decisions.

According to the Census Bureau, about 30,000 households were sampled for this round of data collection in April 2025. The dataset is available as a public-use file that allows users to create customized tables based on their interests.

HTOPS is described by the agency as an experimental product collected every other month on both core and rotating topics. This approach aims to deliver timely insights into how American households are managing various challenges over time.

More data from additional rounds of HTOPS collected later in 2025 are expected to be released in upcoming months.
