The Virginia IAM Council recently held a meeting where labor issues and political activism were discussed by several speakers. Charles Mann, president of the council, spoke about the importance of member security, fair compensation, and workplace safety. He also urged union members to participate in the upcoming Virginia elections, noting that all major statewide offices and delegate seats will be contested.

Newly unionized members from botanical gardens shared their experiences with organizing efforts. They discussed the support they received from both International and state union partners, including the AFL-CIO.

The meeting emphasized the importance of political engagement and voting to promote the labor movement and protect worker rights. Speakers encouraged participation in elections, regardless of political party, as a way to support candidates who advocate for labor interests.
