Youth Leadership Augusta announced on March 19 that applications are now open for its Class of 2027, with a deadline set for April 17. The program, which is part of Leadership Augusta, is designed for rising juniors and seniors who live in or attend high school in Richmond County.

The initiative aims to expose, educate, and motivate young leaders to take an active role in their community. Through a series of program days, students will experience various activities intended to help them develop their leadership style.

Alexis Williams and Doressa Hawes have been named as co-chairs for the upcoming class. Williams is a Program Manager at the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter. She leads public health education and outreach initiatives across several regions in Georgia. “Guided by a strong commitment to health equity and prevention, Alexis is dedicated to advancing brain health awareness and ensuring individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias have access to quality care, resources, and support at every stage,” the organization said. Williams holds a Master of Public Health from Augusta University and has over ten years of experience in healthcare management.

Hawes serves as Director of Corporate Partnerships & Volunteerism at Golden Harvest Food Bank. She leads efforts to build partnerships with corporations and community organizations while overseeing volunteer engagement. Hawes also has experience in publishing with Morris Communications and currently serves on boards including the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and Doctors Hospital of Augusta. “With a strong background in relationship building, fundraising, and program management, she works closely with leadership and community partners to align corporate giving and volunteerism with organizational goals,” according to Youth Leadership Augusta.

Applicants can find more information about the program or complete an online application at leadershipaugustaga.com/youth-class.

The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce describes itself as the largest business membership organization in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), supporting economic growth through business development and educational initiatives.
